Kristie & Brian | Quincy, IL Wedding

It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that we were meeting Kristie and Brian in Panera for a bridal consult and yet here we are late April and posting their wedding blog post.  Kristie had her heart set on using the beautiful flowering dogwood trees that Quincy is known for but this Illinois weather had different plans.  As we all know, this has been an unusually late spring, but we weren’t going to let that stop us from getting some beautiful spring photos. We showed up early and drove around practically ALL of Quincy and finally found some blooming trees on John Wood’s campus and that, luckily, was only minutes away from the church.  We couldn’t have planned it better if we tried!
If you follow us on Instagram you know that I said their wedding was unlike any other and one we will never forget. Kristie and Brian shared their first kiss as husband and wife in a pitch black room by the light of cell phone flashlights.  Wait…. what??? Did you just read that right, by cell phone flashlights??? You sure did! Just as the ceremony was minutes from being over and being announced as husband and wife, the minister said “By the power vested in me….” and every thing goes pitch black. And I don’t mean oh it is a little dark in here I mean BLACK.  The room the ceremony was in had no windows, zero natural light. The timing of it was so crazy, I actually thought to myself, was this planned? It wasn’t planned however, and might not have been what they had in mind but it will definitely make their wedding a memorable one to them and all their guests. OH and I can’t leave out that the lights came on as soon as they exited and their guests were still seated so they went back in and did the ending again so they could get their kissing picture.  Who doesn’t love getting to do the end of their ceremony twice!?!?!
Congratulations Kristie & Brian! And thank you so much for letting us be a part of your wedding day. We had such a fun time getting to know your families and capturing both the big and little moments of your day.  We wish you the very best and are so honored that you chose us to tell your story!

These photos are so “technically” wrong because my settings were off the charts trying to take these photos but they tell so much of the story of their day. This moment was one no one expected but it will be a great laugh for these two to think back on. Oh, and thank goodness for those smart phones with flashlights.

You may kiss the bride, TAKE 2!
